During Key Stage 3, all pupils follow courses in History, Geography and Religious Education. The content of these courses is determined by the National Curriculum in Geography and History and by the Agreed Syllabus for Shropshire in Religious Education.
The Geography units include work on physical, human and economic geography. The History units include work on Mediaeval History, Britain 1485-1700 and 1750 to 1900, the voyages of encounter and the Twentieth Century. Religious Education units include creation stories, rites of passage, festivals, the use of symbols by different religions, places of worship and pilgrimage, and conflict and co-operation.
Pupils have the opportunity to study Geography, History or RE to GCSE level in Key Stage 4. Pupils can also choose to follow a second Humanities subject to GCSE level (Geography/History/RE). For all pupils in Key Stage 4, Religious Education is taught as part of the Personal and Social Development course.
