Technology
Technology Department Print E-mail

Technology is followed by all pupils throughout the school and covers Resistant Materials, Food Technology, Graphics and Textile Technology.

In Years 7 and 8 pupils are given opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills in Resistant Materials, Food Technology and Textile Technology. In Year 9 pupils are allowed to further their knowledge in two areas of Technology by selecting from the above including Graphics.

All Technology courses are relevant to the world of work and leisure activities, with an underlying philosophy of finding practical, economic and environmentally friendly solutions to everyday problems and so make pupils aware of the potential of new technologies, the impact of ICT (CAD/CAM) and the needs of industry.

In Key Stage 4 all pupils are required to study for a GCSE qualification in one of the Technology subject areas studied in Year 9.
