As a school we make special provision for those pupils who experience learning difficulties and the Personalised Learning Centre has purpose built accommodation with excellent facilities and equipment. Children with special needs in all years have access to information technology to help them advance their skills. We have a team of experienced, specialist staff who provide flexible and sensitive support for the whole range of learning difficulties. In accordance with the code of practice for special educational needs there is a special needs register for every child recognised as having special needs. A variety of strategies are used to help and support the learning of pupils with special needs:

  • In-Class Support
  • Withdrawal.
  • Reading Partnership Scheme
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties Provision
  • Working with Parents

Further details are available form school by request. Parents who have children with educational statements or believe their children have specific problems needing extra help should contact the school.

In accordance with the code of practice for special educational needs, children are assessed during the early part of Year 7. Following this, parents are informed if their child is experiencing learning difficulties and given the opportunity to come into school to discuss their child’s needs.
