The Diana Anti Bullying Award Print E-mail
The Marches School and Technology College is delighted that a group of our students has won The Diana Anti Bullying Award.

The Diana Award is part of the lasting and influential legacy of Princess Diana who had the special and often courageous talent of inspiring the lives of others.  The Award was launched in 2004 and is a unique, lifetime award given to young people who inspire the lives of others.

The Year 9 and 10 students produced a DVD called ‘Through Their Eyes’.  The aim of the DVD and the education pack is to
•    define issues of bullying on grounds of refugee/asylum status or impairment
•    eliminate disability based discrimination and harassment focusing on the use of language to discuss differences;
•    uphold the human right of children to be free from abuse
•    raise awareness of the affects of bullying on the wider community

The three areas of bullying that are explored in the DVD are Displaced Refugees, Autism and Down’s Syndrome.

The students said “In making these films we had the opportunity to work with some truly interesting, inspirational and talented people whom otherwise we might never had the chance to get to know.”
