INVESTOR IN CAREERS STATUS |
|
|
Investor in Careers (IiC) is the most prestigious national quality award available that recognizes the excellence of Careers Education and Guidance provision in schools and colleges.
It is initially held for 3 years, after which the institutions involved
are reassessed, The Award is managed and supported locally by
Shropshire Youth (Shropshire Council).
To achieve the award The Marches School and Technology College had to
undergo a rigorous programme of review and development over some 18
months, including 2 major assessments by an External Assessor lasting 2
days. The final part of the process, on the 1st February, was a
Presentation to a panel of local education and employment
representatives who endorsed the Assessor’s recommendation that the
school should receive the award.
Cyril Jones, local IiC Manager, commented:
“The Marches is to be congratulated on achieving Investor in Careers
status. The staff and students involved, led by Frank O’Brien,
Assistant Head and Caroline Dingwall, IiC Coordinator, have put in a
good deal of time and effort to ensure its provision meets the IiC
criteria. The school as a whole is obviously very committed to ensuring
that its students have the opportunities, the skills, the information
and the guidance they need to make the right decisions about their
future learning and work. Very well done!”
