Annual Charity Vote Assembly
Our annual charity assembly was held at the end of last week with speakers from; The Movement Centre who specialise in down syndrome child development support at the Orthopaedic Hospital, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) which raises awareness of SADS (Sudden Adult Death Syndrome) in local communities and Macmillan Cancer Support who provide physical, emotional and financial support to cancer patients.
The students listened to each presentation carefully, which are all local worthwhile causes. Students then voted with a token as they left the assembly. Our Student Leadership Group can now announce that the new charity for this academic year with 39% of the votes is the Movement Centre in Oswestry; Mcmillan raised 33% and CRY 28%. We hope that we can replicate the success of last year’s charity The Harry Johnson Trust, where we were able to raise a fantastic £2087!
