The University of Cambridge – St John’s College
The Marches School has been nominated by St. John’s College, University of Cambridge to act as a hub school for the delivery of information, advice and guidance within Shropshire. The aim of the project is to provide students and their parents/carers with up to date information on the university application process and to raise students’ aspirations by demonstrating accessibility to Higher Education.
Cambridge University is committed to admitting the most talented and committed students, regardless of their social or educational background. St John’s College employs a full-time Access Officer whose role is to help raise the aspirations of students with little or no experience of university and to provide information, advice and guidance to those considering their higher education options.
Students spent the afternoon finding out about Higher Education, Russell Group Universities, the Collegiate System at Oxford and Cambridge, the range of courses on offer and student life at Britain’s top University. A number of parents attended an evening presentation which covered topical areas including ‘financing university’, ‘accommodation’ and ‘entry requirements for Oxford and Cambridge’.
