Just what the Doctor Ordered!
18 year old Lucy, who achieved AAB in her A Level subjects Biology, Psychology and History and B in AS English Literature and an A in Core Maths this summer, sets her sights firmly on a career in medicine and is embarking upon the next stage of her educational journey at The University of Manchester.
Lucy said “I am delighted to have started studying at Manchester University. There are very few medical schools in the UK and it is a very competitive environment so I feel very fortunate that I was able to secure a place in the summer.”
“I’ve had a great start and have enjoyed moving to such a diverse city as Manchester but of course I miss Oswestry and the friends I made whilst at The Marches Sixth Form. I owe a special thank you to the staff especially Mrs Vicars who did so much in supporting me during my A Levels. If it wasn’t for her I probably wouldn’t have gone into medicine. I was very shy when I first attended the Marches Sixth Form but instantly I felt at home and as part of a family. My confidence has grown over the last two years.”
Lucy embarked upon the scholars programme whilst studying at the Marches Sixth Form which is run in addition to core subjects and designed to improve and develop skills in leadership, public speaking, interview preparation and provides work experience opportunities.
Lucy continued, “The Marches Sixth Form feels very much like a family and I am grateful to the school for their support as without it I wouldn’t have this opportunity to fulfil my lifetime ambition of becoming a doctor.”
