Marches Footballers Win Shropshire Presidents Trophy

On Friday 31st March, The Marches School Year 7 football team won the Shropshire Presidents Trophy against Idsall School.  

The Year 7 football team defeated Idsall School 2-1 in an evening of football at SCAT in Shrewsbury. The students found themselves 1-0 down at half time. Captain Jay Barrow equalised from the penalty spot with George Chapman scoring immediately after making it 2-1. The Marches School team were able to hold on to victory with Man of the Match being awarded to Tom Hotchkiss as goalkeeper who dealt with the pressure received from the Idsall School team.

This win is the second for the team who were also crowned North Shropshire five-a-side champions back in Autumn.

The team consists of  Year 7 students Tom Hotchkiss, Harry Morris, Aldie Herd, George Chapman, Harry Darley, Jay Barrow, Jaycob Hodgetts, Joseph Walters, Oscar Herd, Sam Owen, Louis Dulson and Devon Torry.

Mr Gareth Jones, PE Teacher at The Marches School commented, “This is a huge achievement! This is the first major trophy to be won in football at The Marches School in over 10-years and we are very proud.”
