Student Abbie set for 12 hours of Workouts

Marches School student Abbie Ball will be completing a 12 hour ‘wodathon’ fundraiser for two cancer charities on 22nd July.

Abbie will be completing many CrossFit workouts and between them she will be having ‘active rest’, which means she will be constantly either be walking, going on a treadmill or on a bike.

The charities, Lingen Davies and Breast Cancer Care, are causes very close to Abbie’s heart as she has lost close family members and friends to the disease, as well as her gym coach who is currently battling it. 14-year-old Abbie has decided she wanted to help make a difference and raise as much money as she can.

Abbie will be helped and spurred on by her teachers and friends as they will join her an hour at a time throughout the 12 hours, between 7am and 7pm at Basecamp Ellesmere.

Abbie commented: “I am really looking forward to the wodathon and hope to raise as much money as I can for this cause, which is one that means a lot to me. I really appreciate the help and support of everyone and look forward to seeing them on Sunday 22nd July”.

Mrs Kellie Spencer, Abbie’s form tutor and Associate Assistant Director of MFL and Leader of German at the Marches School, added: “We could not be prouder of Abbie. She is doing an incredible, selfless thing and we are delighted to be able to support her through her challenge. We look forward to hearing about how she has got on and how much money she has raised”.

Abbie’s fundraising efforts can be found on her fundraising page, which is located here: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/AbbieDean3
