Year 11 Resilience Day Evening Event for Parents

Dear Parent/Carer,

A big happy New Year to all parents and families of Year 11 students – I hope you had an enjoyable festive period.

We are straight back into the ‘thick of it’ with Year 11 students and the countdown to their exams is on. A key event in this countdown is our Resilience Day and subsequent evening event, which I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to attend.

On Thursday 16th January, Year 11 students will not access their normal timetable but will take part in a series of interactive sessions with the theme of building their resilience – there is, of course, a thread of revision skills and techniques which will underpin all of the tasks.

The absolute highlight of the day in previous years has been a session delivered by Karim Al-Abbas, an external speaker who specialises in memory and revision techniques – I am happy to say we have managed to book Karim for the day again this year – Karim will also be presenting to parents at the evening event.

Other sessions through the day will include Revision Techniques, Wellbeing, Team Building/Bonding and a special presentation from some ex-students who I have invited back to share some top tips with the current Year 11 cohort.

The Evening Event will be our opportunity to share with you some of the content of the sessions from the day – in particular a focus on what you can do at home to support your child with their revision – as well as giving you the chance to experience an amazing session from Karim.

Date: 16th January

Time: Presentation to start at 6pm in the Main Hall.

Finish: The evening will be finished by 7.30pm.

As always, when we, as a school, have support from home this leads to more successful outcomes for our students. Please make every effort to attend.

Best wishes,

Dan Pritchard

Head of Academic Progress Year 11
