Match Report: Under 15 County Cup Quarter Final
William Brookes School 1 – 5 The Marches School
A comfortable win for The Marches in the quarter final. The team started brightly and were quickly scored the opening goal. Oscar Herd ran into the box and was taken down, with Jay Barrow converting from the penalty spot. The Marches continued to press and added two further goals before half-time.
The second half was much closer and it was William Brookes who scored first with a wonder strike that goalkeeper, Aiden Jones, could do very little about. Conceding a goal spurred The Marches into life and we started to play the ball forwards more confidently. Joe Walters ran through on goal and was tripped in the area, he picked himself up and scored the resulting penalty. The final goal came from a huge cross-field pass from George Chapman that found Oscar Herd in space, who went on to slide the ball past the keeper.
A great team performance with everyone in the squad contributing well to the game. The Year 10’s are now through to the semi-finals in both the Shropshire County Cup and the Shropshire Presidents Trophy.
