This term our Music Department have been busy organising various visits, trips and performances for our students to enjoy and partake in:
Percussionist Cllr Jay Moore visited The Marches recently to give a Drumming Workshop. The students enjoyed learning about different drumming skills and had a go at kit drumming.
On Thursday 21st November, The Marches Choir of 50 students sang at the Oswestry Christmas Lights Switch-On to a huge crowd at Bailey Head.
On Friday 22nd November, A level and GCSE Music students went on a trip to Birmingham Symphony Hall. They saw a performance given by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Stephen Bell. The students thought the concert was fantastic and enjoyed performances of well-known works including Saint-Saens’ The Swan, Elgar’s Nimrod and Ravel’s Bolero.
On Friday 29th November, The Marches Choir sang for The Rotary Club of Oswestry Tree of Lights Ceremony. The evening saw a lights switch-on by Oswestry Mayor and Mayoress John Price and Joyce Barrow. The choir performed a selection of pieces, which they are preparing for The Marches Christmas Concert, along with Christmas carols to get everyone into the festive spirit!
