Oswestry Rotary Club Youth Speaks Competition

The Marches School recently hosted the Oswestry Rotary Club Youth Speaks Competition.  The Marches entered two teams into the senior section of the public speaking competition.  Teams consisted of a Chairperson who provided introductions and controlled proceedings, a proposer (supporting the motion) and an opposer (opposing the motion).  Teams presented ‘Does inequality still exist?’ and ‘Should we rewrite history?’

The Judges for the event were impressed with the confidence of the students in preparing and presenting their own topics and commented in general on the content and delivery of each team.  The Marches Team 2, comprising of Anya Horsler (Chairperson), Ewan Higgins (Proposer) and Aden Steele (Opposer) won the senior competition and will now go through the District Competition to be held in the spring which will see them competing against schools from North Wales and Cheshire.
