Roll up! Roll up! For The Marches Virtual Fete | Build up

This year has been challenging across the school and Sixth Form due to the impact of the pandemic, but for the team at The Marches School, this does not stop us supporting our community.

Staff and students at The Marches School work incredibly hard to raise money for the school’s chosen local charity each year. This year the school is raising money for Ethos (, a charity providing adapted, short-term accommodation and advocacy support for people with life-changing physical disabilities. They also assist in the search for suitable, long-term homes with an aim to have everyone learning to laugh, to work and to make new friends.

From the 8th -12th February, we will be hosting an online fundraising event based on a traditional village fete. It will be jam-packed with activities, games and challenges for students to try; with amazing prizes to be won, whilst raising money for charity.

The event is being supported by some incredible local organisations including: Colour Supplies, Oswestry Life, SBC Training, North Shropshire College, Aico, R Bladen & Sons, Oswestry Tandoori, TNSFC, PetWorld, The Charlotte Hartey Foundation, Chester University, Glyndwr University, Morisons, Sainsburys, The Candy Man, Ram Leisure, Hughes Scaffolding Contractors LTD, Everglades luxury Residence, BT, Now Group and Jewson.

Events will include live music, a pet show, a virtual treasure hunt and the anticipated teacher torment – who will be the one to get splattered with a custard pie? There will also be football challenges, ferret racing, a TikTok dance competition, a general knowledge quiz along with lots of fun activities set by each department, and it would not be a proper fete without the ol’ classic ‘how many sweets in the jar’ game!

Associate Assistant Headteacher at The Marches School, Dan Pritchard comments: “We are looking forward to hosting this event and hope to see lots of our students take part. The support from our community has been amazing and we hope to raise lots of money for our charity whilst having lots of fun in the process.”

No donation is too small. Donations of any size will get access to the Fete site – with all events and experiences free inside. Donations are being run through our ParentPay system as the best solution at this time of lockdown. If you do not have ParentPay and would like your child to join in the fun, or feel you could support the event in any way, please contact:
