Year 8 County Cup Rugby
On a soggy field the Year 8’s were treated to a rare clear sky for their cup match encounter against a large Charlton School team. The Marches enjoyed the opening exchanges and the majority of possession for the whole first half. Ben Fletcher got into full stride a couple of times, skittling would be tacklers away. The first try came from an outside break from Jack Tinney, proving to have too much pace for the opposition. Ben Fletcher followed suit soon after with a much more direct approach after some great phase play from the whole team.
Charlton did have a shining light as one of their players broke 6 tackles on a run that started on his own 22m line to touch down out wide. The second half was dominated by The Marches, playing a great field position and defending well when required. Harry Heard touched down in the second half to complete a fantastic performance which saw him convert 3 out of the 4 conversions from out wide.
The Marches finished the victors 26-7, a great start to their County Cup campaign!
