π Marches Under 14 Netball Team Crowned County Plate Tournament Champions! π
Our Under 14 netball team put on an incredible performance at Wrekin College in this year's County Netball Plate Tournament! With a round-robin format involving 8 strong teams, it was a true test of endurance and skill. πͺ
We kicked things off with convincing wins against Shrewsbury School and Thomas Adams. The team showed great resilience in round three, coming from 4-1 down to secure a draw against Ludlow. The play flowed brilliantly, with excellent connections from defence into attack, and Ruby Speake's superb defending turned over ball after ball with ease.
We followed this up with solid victories against Meole Brace and Oswestry School, setting us up for two crucial final games against Moreton Hall and Shrewsbury High School. The team held their nerve with excellent link play from Eden Wilmot and clinical shooting by Hollie Wiseman.
Winning 6 matches and drawing 1, our talented squad emerged as the overall TOURNAMENT WINNERS! π₯π
It was a fantastic achievement against some of the top netball schools in the county.
Captain Amber Wilcox shared her thoughts: "Our whole team played some excellent netball and came through during times of pressure to win."
We're so proud of these incredible players for their teamwork, determination, and skill! π

π₯ A Cinematic Experience for Marches Students at Instituto Cervantes!
A group of our Year 11, 12, and 13 students had a fantastic time watching "Tesis sobre un homicidio" by HernΓ‘n Goldfrid at the Instituto Cervantes in Manchester! It was a great opportunity for our students to immerse themselves in Spanish language and culture, all while enjoying a gripping story on the big screen. π¬β¨
Here's a brief synopsis for those interested in the film:
"Roberto Bermudez is a specialist in Criminal Law whose life is thrown into chaos when he becomes convinced that Gonzalo, one of his best students, has committed a brutal murder right in front of the Faculty of Law. Determined to uncover the truth, he begins a personal investigation that will soon become an obsession, inevitably dragging him into dark corners. The truth is very close, but... at what price?"
We love providing these enriching experiences that combine learning with a touch of culture and excitement!

β½οΈ An Unforgettable Derby Win for Marches Sixth Form Football Team! π
The sixth form football season kicked off in style with an away match against our local rivals, Oswestry School, in what is truly the closest derby game in world football. π₯
The first half was a tense, evenly matched battle with few chances on either side. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our goalkeeper, Leo, who pulled off an unbelievable double save to keep the scores level at halftime! π§€π
The atmosphere was intense, with over 100 Oswestry supporters creating a hostile environment and booing every Marches touch, while our team was backed by a single, dedicated supporter. Despite the pressure, the lads stayed focused!
In the second half, Marches executed a perfect game plan, soaking up pressure and staying dangerous on the break. It paid off when James went on a brilliant run, setting up Alex to score the opening goal! Marches then doubled the lead when Max (aka Rory Delap!) took a long throw, leading to an own goal from the Oswestry defender.
With just 10 minutes to go, we struck againβAlex sealed the win with a stunning lob from 20 yards, sending our players into celebration mode as we knew we had knocked the stuffing out of the home team! β½π―
The lads played their hearts out, giving 100% and putting in a performance to be proud of, clinching a well-deserved 3-0 victory. Even the referee praised the team, saying we were superb and a credit to the school!

π An Unforgettable Rugby Tournament for Marches School! π
A great bunch of boys travelled to Wrekin College to compete in the Shropshire Tournament of 10-a-side Rugby, and what a performance they put on! π
We played four intense games, starting with a 40-0 win against Church Stretton, led by Marcus Adams, who set the standard with some brilliant tries.
Next, we took on Corbet in an injury-hit game and came out on top with a 34-5 victory. Star winger Jesli Nang-Bayi proved once again that pace is king on the rugby pitch, dominating the game.
After all the boys contributed to a hard-fought 17-10 win against SJT, it all came down to a thrilling decider against hosts Wrekin. In a nail-biting finish, we clinched the victory with a game-winning conversion from Tristan Flint, sealing the game at 26-24! π―
Mr. Martin was a very proud coach of this team who represented our school with such heart and determination. As Martin Ivanov (Y11) perfectly summed up the day: "Money doesnβt bring happiness, rugby does." ππ
