How we support you

We believe that knowing our students well is key to their success. At The Marches Sixth Form every student will benefit from strong academic and pastoral systems and be fully supported throughout their Key Stage 5 studies.

We are here to guide you

From taster days in Year 11 and the start of Year 12, to the ongoing, rigorous monitoring of academic progress and guidance throughout the two years, our students are given the best possible personalised support to maximise their chances of success.

We aim to equip our students with academic knowledge alongside the skills and confidence to succeed here and beyond. We pride ourselves on our success in ensuring that our students reach the best possible destinations and are equipped for the next stage in their lives.

“Relationships with staff are respectful and trusting. Pupils feel safe and are well cared for.” Ofsted September 2023

One on One Tutors

We have a team of highly experienced tutors to ensure that students have consistent, daily contact.

We endeavour to ensure that students and parents have access to independent advice and guidance (IAG), whenever required, to assist with making important academic or career decisions, as well as offering emotional or medical advice if needed.

Supporting students wider growth

Sixth-form students play an integral role in the school. They are actively involved in the life of the school and are strong role models. Many act, for instance, as mentors for younger pupils or support those who struggle with reading. Ofsted 2023.

All our students have the opportunity to complete an extended work placement in local industry and businesses to support their aspirations.

Mentoring & Enrichment

We have a team of highly experienced tutors to ensure that students have consistent, daily contact. Tutors deliver a bespoke PSHE program which is complemented by ongoing careers opportunities and guidance, including regular speakers from our alumni, from local, national and global enterprises and from higher education.

Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are very well supported. Ofsted 2023.

This program is complimented with visits, work experience and individual support to guide you fully, through either the university application process or into an apprenticeship.

There is a rich programme of opportunities for personal growth and enrichment with a wealth of trips, such as our sixth form visit to Auschwitz or New York. Students are able to pursue the Duke of Edinburgh Gold qualification, participate in Model United Nations debates, organise fundraising events and develop their leadership and presentation skills.
